North Fulton AAUW Hosts Human Trafficking Outreach Specialist

Jadma Noronha, the Anti-Human Trafficking Outreach Specialist with Tapestri Inc. will speak to the North Fulton Branch of the American Association of University Women, Aug. 25.

The North Fulton Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will host Jadma Noronha, an anti-human trafficking outreach specialist with Tapestri Inc. at its next meeting, Saturday, August 25.

Tapestri is a local non-profit social services agency that works with survivors of violence from the immigrant and refugee community, they also provide direct services to victims of human trafficking and assists them with a variety of needs from locating safe housing to medical, as well as mental health needs. Noronha, who has has been working with immigrant victims of crime in Georgia since 2004, leads Tapestri’s Domestic Violence Focus Group, a program designed to provide training and outreach to nine immigrant communities in the Atlanta area. Previously she worked for the International Women’s House and at The Latin American Association.

The local AAUW branch consists of women who reside in Cumming, Roswell, Alpharetta, John’s Creek, Milton and Sandy Springs. As part of the national AAUW, members are committed to advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research.

Funding for branch activities, including local college scholarships, comes solely from AAUW’s Annual Bookfair held this year at Perimeter Mall, during mall hours, Wednesday, September 26 to Sunday, September 30. Over 75,000 very gently-used books will be available at bargain prices.
