Pick Up a Book, Pass It Around on 'Read Across America' Day

Celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday Friday, March 2 by joining book lovers and your local school for "Read Across America" day.

This year, the National Education Association, a group of more than 3.2 million educators who work to improve public schools, is calling on book lovers around the nation to take up "The Lorax," the popular Dr. Seuss children's book published in 1971 about the lovable creature who fights to save the environment. 

As part of "Read Across America" day, classrooms in schools throughout the country - including Roswell - will hold special reading events to celebrate the birthday of the beloved children author, Dr. Seuss, today, March 2.

Additionally, will begin showing "The Lorax" today. And Ann Jackson Gallery is . NEA and Lorax' publisher, Random House, also have lesson plans and lots of other materials, resources and printable activities for teachers, parents and kids.
