Ready, Set, Go: Golden Games On The Way

Annual Olympics-style event for seniors kicks off May 1.

Roswell is looking for competitors 50 years old or older to represent the city in the 19th annual North Fulton Golden Games, an Olympics-style series of games, May 1-23.

The month-long competition, which starts May 1, includes sports such as swimming, track and field and even rock-climbing. It also includes a middle range of athletics, such as bowling, washer toss, horseshoes, shuffleboard and basketball free throws. The Golden Games offers low-impact activities such as billiards, bridge, poker and bocce ball. Many events will be staged in Johns Creek’s Newtown Park, which is hosting the Opening Ceremony on May 1.

Registration for the Golden Games, which ends April 19, is sponsored by Roswell and other cities in North Fulton. It costs $15 to register and includes a T-shirt, lunch and entry into several Golden Games competitions. Some sports, such as golf and tennis, carry additional fees.
