For the amateur category, first place went to the entry from the Roswell Historical Society and second place went to Bill Browning with Barrington Hall.

More than 100 guests sampled the wide variety of cornbread and voted for the People’s Choice Iron Skillet Award, which was given to Von and Andrea Gatewood for their Cornbread with a Twist recipe.

This year's panel included Jenny Turknett, food critic for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Joe McCaffrey, chef and owner of Oak Street Café and cook-off winners for the previous two years.

The cook-off was held as part of Roswell Roots, the city's Black History Month celebration. It was one of 24 different events that took place during the month of February.
