Roswell Host Families Needed to Take in French Students During July

Can you host a student from July 9-29?

Twenty-five French teens from professional families will be coming to the Atlanta area during July and they'll need a place to stay.

Retired Lassiter High School French teacher Linda Farmer is currently rallying host families around Roswell and areas nearby who will open their home to students, between the ages of ages 14-18. Interested families don't need to have any French language skills, since the students are each able to speak English at some level.

The teens come from all over France, including Paris, Provence and Alsace. The trip to the metro area will allow them to experience American life firsthand and be totally immersed in the English language.

Farmer, along with a French chaperon, will oversee the program.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for Atlanta-area families to add an international dimension to their lives," she said.

Loisirs Culturels à l'étranger (LEC USA), the Paris-based sponsor, provides the students with comprehensive medical insurance and gives host families compensation for room and board. Each teen will travel with ample spending money for expenses outside of the home and each has had three to six years of English, depending on their age. The students will go on sightseeing trips once a week while they are here.
