Roswell Set to Light Christmas Tree on Saturday

Usher in the holidays with this annual tradition at the Roswell Square.

From holiday carols to brightly colored lights, nothing welcomes in the most wonderful time of year like Roswell’s Annual Lighting of Historic Town Square.

On Dec. 1 at 5 p.m., celebrate with your neighbors and off the yuletide season with one of the city's most beloved traditions.

Residents will be singing “fa-la-la-la-la” in no time as they mix and mingle with friends over coffee and sweets, listen to a reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” by Roswell Mayor Jere Wood and enjoy festive choral performances from Esther Jackson, River Eves and Hillside Elementary schools. Santa Claus is also confirmed to make a special guest appearance, straight from the North Pole! Pictures with Santa will be available at a nominal charge.

The same night, Santa’s Secret Gift Shop will open its doors for a special weekend of holiday shopping starting at 6 p.m. Santa’s elves will be on hand to guide children 12 and under through the gift shop as they pick out gifts for family and friends. Free rides to the gift shop are available on the Holiday Bus immediately following the lighting of the square.

Gift Shop items are priced affordably and all proceeds benefit the Roswell Ramblers Club. Gift Shop guests will also enjoy button-making, coloring, s’mores, face painting and more.

The Gift Shop is located at the Roswell Adult Recreation Center at 830 Grimes Bridge Road and will also be open Sunday, Dec. 2 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. For more information, call 770-641-3950.
