Roswell Student Wins $250K in Lottery

Ryan Barrett won the money at the Exxon Food Mart on Highway 92.

One Roswell college student received a jolt of cheer with news of a quarter-million dollar win from the Georgia Lottery. Ryan Barrett, 20, matched the first five numbers from the Nov. 6 Mega Millions drawing, winning a $250,000 prize.

Barrett, a sophomore studying computer science at Georgia Perimeter College, claimed his prize recently at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Duluth.

His winnings will be used to support his education, Barrett said.

“This will be savings for college,” the lucky winner shared. “I may spend extra on Christmas presents.”

Exxon Food Mart, located at 4780 Alabama Road N.E. in Roswell, sold the winning Quik Pik ticket.

Barrett discovered he’d won while checking the results on the Georgia Lottery’s website.

Winning numbers from the Nov. 6 Mega Millions drawing were: 3-5-13-32-35 and the Mega Ball was 6.

“I’m pretty excited,” Barrett exclaimed.

Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot drawing is at an estimated $33 million to a single annuity winner. Tickets are $1 per play.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
