Local Church Donates SWAT Truck to City

World Harvest Church will host a special community celebration Sunday, July 1, which will include demonstrations by Roswell Police and Fire departments.

You probably aren't likely to associate the terms "church" and "SWAT;" but when in Roswell heard the city had a need for a new SWAT vehicle, they acted.

Thanks to the generous donation of a local resident, the was the proud owner of an old bread truck, just begging to be transformed into something the department could really use. But a conversion was costly and not part of the department's budget. So when word of the need spread, the World Harvest congregation raised nearly $22,000 to make it happen. And an expert in tactical equipment who attends the church went to work converting the old truck into an official SWAT vehicle - the first to become part of the "North Fulton SWAT," a joint venture between the cities of Roswell, Alpharetta and Milton.

This Sunday, July 1, the church will celebrate the heroes they believed were worth it.
