Atlanta Wind Symphony Remembers Stravinsky

The Atlanta Wind Symphony will hold a special musical event this Sunday, Mar. 20 at 3 p.m. at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center.

If you're a symphony fan the name Igor Stravinsky is a familiar one. Considered to be the most influential music composer of modern times, The Atlanta Wind Symphony will pay tribute to him and his music this weekend with "Remembering Stravinsky."

Stravinsky was named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century and his music is revered among many classical music circles. The concert will feature four works of Stravinsky: “Circus Polka for a Young Elephant,” Symphonies of Wind Instruments,” Ebony Concerto” (dedicated to Woody Herman), and “Piano Concerto.”

Dr. Patrick K. Carney, AWS Conductor and Music Director, states “I am truly excited about this performance, and this group has worked extremely hard to ensure that it will be among our best.”
