During the 2012 Christmas season, Roswell’s historic Barrington Hall will partner with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and feature a revolving exhibit of decorated and donated wreaths available for purchase. A variety of everlasting wreaths in all shapes and sizes will adorn the halls, doors, windows and tabletops of this antebellum home. All proceeds from the wreath sales will benefit the Make-A-Wish® Georgia and Alabama chapter.
Each year Barrington Hall decorates for the holidays with a specific theme, providing visitors a glimpse into traditional Southern Christmas décor. This year, Robert Winebarger, Site Coordinator of the home, felt compelled to take a different approach, “We wanted to make more of an impact during the giving season by including the Roswell community in our decorating efforts, as well as contribute to this important charity.” For those individuals or businesses eager to exercise their creativity, wreaths may be donated already decorated. Monetary donations will also be accepted and Barrington Hall’s team of volunteers will decorate the wreaths for them. Wreath prices will begin at $30.00 and will be available for purchase to visitors during regular tour times, or during specific “Open House” dates on December 2, 9 and 16, 2012. On those dates, we invite our guests to wander through Barrington Hall free of charge and in the spirit of the season, consider purchasing a wreath in support of this special organization.
Several Roswell businesses have already come on board with a commitment to donate. Barrington Hall will proudly display hand-crafted wreaths from Heirloom Iron Bed Company, Uniquities, Raiford Galleries, Pet Fancy, The Bilt-House, Wedding Angels, Roswell Hardware and Dennis Franklin of State Farm Insurance. Nancy Halsema, Make-A-Wreath Volunteer, has been pleased with the enthusiasm the event is already creating among local businesses. Once a establishment learns they can tie in a gift certificate or specialty item with their wreath donation, they not only see it as a way to make a donation to a worthwhile cause, but another way to share their business with the community.
For information on donating or purchasing a wreath, please contact Nancy Halsema at (770) 315-0345 or email Michele Glazer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. According to a 2011 study of wish impact, most health professionals surveyed say a wish come true can affect their health outcomes. Kids say wishes give them renewed strength to fight their illness, and their parents say these experiences strengthen the entire family. Based in Phoenix, the Foundation is one of the world’s leading children’s charities, serving children in every community in the United States, its territories and in 47 countries on five continents. With the help of generous donors and more than 30,000 volunteers worldwide, the Make-A-Wish Foundation grants a wish somewhere in the world every 23 minutes. It has granted more than 280,000 wishes since its inception in 1980. Visit Make-A-Wish America at www.wish.org and discover how you can share the power of a wish®.
