Gospel, Folk, Heavy Metal, Orchestra Available for Marietta Music Lovers

Marietta music fans have a diverse selection this week to expand their listening skills ... all without having to drive miles from home.

With the metropolis of Atlanta to the south and numerous renowned musical venues peppered across the metro area, Marietta's music scene is often lost amid the din. But as any Marietta music lover knows, the local scene here remains vibrant and essential. Marietta Patch is here to help you navigate it.

1. Joy Parkman shares her songs of worship at noon Thursday for the Glover Park Free Lunchtime Concert Series.  And if that wasn't enough, the Marietta Welcome Center and Visitors Bureau is giving out free ice cream for “Ice Cream for Tourism” from noon to 1 p.m. during the performance.

2. Singer/songwriters Tyler Reeve and Brandon Perry team up musically for a relaxing evening Wednesday at Dixie Tavern. Thursday brings the authoritarian hard rock sounds of Aclarion.  Friday sets the stage for the musings of covers and originals of Ty Reynolds.

3. always brings in the jams.  Consider stopping by on Friday when The Bretheren provides their blend of funk, rock and soul.

4. Ok, this one is up the road a few, but a great way to enjoy music: Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra and Chorus at Kennesaw State University's Bailey Performance Center. Sunday brings "The Next Generation" to the stage with a mix of full and string orchestras, jazz ensembles, percussion ensembles, two choruses, and two wind ensembles.  Show times are at 3 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. and tickets are only $5.
