Roswell Cultural Arts Center Hires New Coordinator

Georgia native Sarah Chandler has been a theatre manager on the East Coast for the last 11 years.

This just in from the City of Roswell:

The Roswell Cultural Arts Center (CAC) is pleased to welcome Sarah Chandler as the Center’s new coordinator. After a nationwide search, Chandler joins the Cultural Arts Center in alignment with the Center’s vision of becoming a greater participant in the artistic heartbeat of the community.

Originally from Macon, Georgia, Chandler has returned to her home state after 11 years of work as a theatre manager, both national and internationally. She was most recently the rentals and operations manager at Christ Church Neighborhood House theatre in Philadelphia, as well as the owner of an events management company, Sweet Ninjas.

Chandler, who holds an MFA in Theatre Management from Virginia Tech, has worked professionally as a freelance manager for performing arts companies with a focus on ensemble companies that create innovative and collaborative work, including Pig Iron Theatre Company in Philadelphia, The Public Theater in New York City, and the Berkshire Theatre Festival in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.

G. Morgan Timmis, Manager of Historic and Cultural Affairs for the City of Roswell, was pleased to find such a highly qualified candidate to manage the CAC.

“Sarah brings great experience and innovative ideas for how to enhance everything about the Center," Timmis said. "I had applicants from across the country for this position. All three of the short-list candidates were from out of state, which I feel is a positive statement about our facility—what we've been doing and have the potential to do going forward.”

Chandler believes the Cultural Arts Center has tremendous potential to be a major hub for the arts in North Fulton.

“This is a great time to be in Roswell,” said Chandler. “This area is exploding with new businesses, a burgeoning arts scene, and youthful energy—and the Cultural Arts Center is ready to be a partner in all of it!”

Chandler is excited about the upcoming LIVE! In Roswell concert and performing arts series (www.roswellpresents.com) and is exploring ways for the CAC to be more active in the community, including partnering with local businesses for “Locals Only” events, like open mic nights, readings, and trivia nights.

“We’ve got this beautiful space, walking distance to Canton Street, and my favorite activity in the world is hosting people, so I can’t wait to have people here in the space.”
