Roswell is Calling All Artists

The city has put out a call for all artists for its Moving Parts of the Arts.

Ever wanted to see your art on display in downtown Roswell?

The Roswell Cultural Arts Board is looking for a few good artists to participate in the Moving Parts of the Arts bike display this April. Each year, the Roswell Cycling Festival include's the Roswell Criterium, the Mayor's Ride, several recreational rides in local parks and the Kids' Bicycle Safety Rodeo. As Georgia's only officially designated bike-friendly community, the city is excited to see so much enthusiasm for cycling and even more excited to bring colorful, original sculpture to the beautiful downtown area.

In conjunction with the Roswell Cycling Festival, Roswell Bicycles has donated twenty bicycles to be artistically reconstructed, displayed, and auctioned off at the end of the community-wide celebration. Bikes are still available to local artists who have some connection to Roswell. To apply for and redesign your own bike, complete this form, which includes a brief biography and your plan to turn a bike into an exciting and weather-resistant work of art. Whether you're into welding, painting, or something else, all disciplines are welcome.

The bikes will be displayed around old Roswell during April. The Cultural Arts Board will give awards to their favorite bikes and the public will be able to bid on the bikes during a special auction at the end of April. Further information on awards will be forthcoming, but expect two-wheeled excitement from the Roswell Bicycles pop-up tent at the April Alive After Five event in downtown Roswell.

For more information on the Roswell Cycling Festival, visit their website. And to apply to decorate your own bike, apply here. The deadline to apply is March 25, and as of this posting, spots are still available.
