To be featured as an artist profile in The Creativity Files, contact editor christine.foster@patch.com.

"The Creativity Files" series profiles local artists who are using their talents to express their own creativity. This week we feature Barbara Rush, a painter who is inspired by everything from the fine arts at the High to horseback riding. For consideration in becoming part of the series, contact editor Christine Foster.

Q: What artistic medium(s) do you work with?

A: I am an acrylic painter who normally paints on canvas. Recently though, I was convinced to paint on a horse brush for PINK, a GDCTA fundraiser to raise money for cancer research.

Q: How did you get your start as an artist?

A: I have been an artist ever since I can remember, however, about five years ago I was walking through the High Museum of Art and while staring at some cubist paintings I was inspired to paint again in my style which I call GeoCubism.

Q: As you work on a piece, what things inspire you?

A: I love horses. I ride at least once a week. They are such beautiful creatures to me. They inspire me in the way they move, the way their manes flow and how silly they can be! I am also mesmerized by complementary color combinations and bold colors - love them!

Q: Do you have a favorite piece?

A: My favorite piece seems to be whichever painting I am currently working on. I usually take a picture with my iPhone of whatever I am working on so that I can look at it whenever I want. This helps me continue the creative process and make adjustments as needed.

Q: What is your favorite thing about being a part of the artistic community in Roswell?

A: Roswell is home to me, I love living here. It is like living in a state park. I love that my art gallery is only 11 minutes from my house and that my drive there makes me happy...so I arrive energized to paint. I love being a part of Synergy Fine Art because we are a group of artists who paint together (right in the gallery) we share information about shows, paint, canvas sales and more and we support each other in following our dreams.

Q: Where can people view your work and/or buy it?

A: Online you can find me at www.barbararush.com. In historic Roswell, I am at Synergy Fine Art, in the nook of Webb street just off Canton Street, at 26 Webb Street.
