What's New in Fulton Schools This Year?

With an enrollment of some 95,000 students for the 2013-14 school year, the Fulton County School System is the fourth largest school district in Georgia. 

The system includes 100 schools – 58 elementary schools, 19 middle schools, 17 high schools and six start-up charter schools.

eSPLOST projects include 30 school renovation projects and wi-fi upgrades.

Five North Fulton schools welcome new principals this year.

The new charter system in Fulton schools begins its next phase as a second round of schools undergoes the transition in North Fulton, including Cambridge High, Chattahoochee High, Crabapple Middle, Dolvin Elementary, Elkins Pointe Middle, Haynes Bridge Middle, Holcomb Bridge Middle, Johns Creek High, Medlock Bridge Elementary, Mimosa Elementary, Northwestern Middle, Ocee Elementary, River Trail Middle, Roswell High, State Bridge Crossing Elementary, Summit Hill Elementary, Sweet Apple Elementary, Taylor Road Middle, Webb Bridge Middle and Wilson Creek Elementary.

Fulton County Schools is revamping its Continuous Achievement model for curriculum delivery that guides how reading and mathematics is delivered to students. The model, unique to Fulton County Schools, enables students to be taught at their appropriate instructional level and allows for more acceleration.

A new DVR camera surveillance system has been installed on all 949 school buses, funded by eSPLOST. Also this year, all drivers will participate in a 3.5-hour first aid training course provided by school system nurses.  

Using grant funds, two schools in Roswell – Mimosa Elementary and Holcomb Bridge Middle – will offer "Breakfast in the Classroom" and "Grab-n-Go" breakfasts to increase student access to a nutritious breakfast before the start of the school day.
