Student Advisors Wanted for State Council
Georgia Education Department urges students to apply to be advisors.
State School Superintendent Dr. John Barge wants students to apply for the 2013-2014 Student Advisory Council.
Members meet three times during the school year with the superintendent to discuss how decisions made at the state level affect students throughout Georgia. The students act as liaisons between the Department of Education (GaDOE) and the students of Georgia.
"I am excited about getting to know a new group of student advisors and discuss how our policies impact them on a daily basis," said Barge in a press release. "We want to make education work for all Georgia’s students, and hearing directly from them is the best way to ensure that happens.”
Students in grades 9 to 12 can apply. Applications are due Sept. 13. Students interested in applying should contact Ron Culver at rculver@doe.k12.ga.us. For more information or to download the application, visit the Student Advisory Council’s website.
