A Bird Watching, Paddling Adventure Awaits!

Get to know the birds in and around your backyard while paddling along the Chattahoochee for a relaxing morning - perfect way to start off your weekend!

Early morning on the Chattahoochee River is one of the best times to observe many species of birds. A canoe ride through the wetlands brings one up close and personal to the wetland habitat in which many birds nest, feed and migrate. The Chattahoochee Nature Center (CNC) invites you to take a leisurely morning paddle through the marshes to explore what birds one can find.

Alicia Evans, one of the program guides and a seasoned birder, says "Being surrounded by birdsong with binoculars in hand - make a morning paddle on the Chattahoochee a unique way to start the day". Herons, warblers, flycatchers and vireos, beautiful and vocal in the morning mist blanketing the river, welcome you and your canoe to join them in and along the water.

Participants will learn to identify different bird species by sight and sound while enjoying the coolness of the morning and the peacefulness of the river. The trip will focus specifically on birds in the area and exploring the hidden backwaters along the river – a treat for birders of any skill-level! Don't forget to bring your own binoculars or you can borrow a pair from CNC!
