Chambrel at Roswell Celebrates 25 Years

Cottage homes and private screened in porches may not be exactly what you think of when you think of senior living, but continues to defy expectations, now in its 25 year of operation here in Roswell.

Chambrel sits in the heart of Roswell on 35 wooded acres that were once an apple orchard. With nearly 300 apartments and cottage homes, the community is at over 90 percent occupancy, catering to an aging population that come from all over the country.

"Over 65 percent of new residents are coming from outside of Roswell to be closer to their kids," said Jill Butler, Chambrel Sales & Marketing director.

In an effort to make their residents lives the best they can possibly be, Chambrel staff say a typical day in the community reads a lot like a cruise ship itinerary. Residents spend their days participating in dozens of activities, taking off-site excursions around the metro-Atlanta area and enjoying amenities like a heated pool, putting green, gardens and walking paths.

The living is so easy that several of the residents have been at Chambrel for over 20 years and 55 residents have stayed for more than 10 years, said Butler.

It's a lifestyle Chambrel hopes to share more of with the local community in the coming years, as they put out the proverbial welcome mat more often to those outside the sphere of the senior living community. For instance, Chambrel is looking to share its meeting space with local businesses, organizations or groups in need of a place to get together. They also offer up their "distinctive" dining services and facilities to anyone in need of hosting a small or large group for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

And they're lining up several community events, which they hope will encourage locals to stop by with the family, including:

• 7th Annual Ginny Jog 5K Race for the Alzheimer's Association - Saturday, Oct. 6
• Senior Services North Fulton Meals on Wheels Fall Fundraiser with Health Fair & Fall Flowers, as well as Chambrel's Homemade Signature Pie Sale - Saturday, Oct. 20
• Phantom of the Opera Halloween Event - Tuesday, Oct. 30
• Vererans Day Celebration - Thursday, Nov. 8
• Roswell Community Gingerbread House Contest - Saturday, Dec. 1 - Monday Dec. 10
