Do You Feel 'Lucky' Enough to Win Eating Contest?

Lucky's Burgers & Brew kicks off a burger eating challenge this Sunday.

Eating competitions are a popular subject these days. Whether you've read about the winners of a national contest or seen Adam Richman on the Travel Channel's "Man v. Food" most have grimaced with the thought of attempting to consume massive amounts.

However, the rare breed that have mocked those with a less robust appetite, or boasted of their own plate-cleaning prowess, here's your chance to put your money where your mouth is - quite literally.

Meet the Grim Reaper.

The new mega burger eating challenge at Lucky’s Burger & Brew consists of a four-pound all-beef patty, a pound of bacon, half dozen fried eggs, order of onion rings, stacked and layered in a specially-made bun. But you're not done there, competitors must also finish a side of chili cheese tater tots as well.

The challenge kicks off this Sunday, Aug. 7 from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. during Lucky's First Anniversary celebration. And if you're gut can hold all that glory, the prize is substantial. Consume the entire dish within one hour and you win $100 cash, a $250 Lucky’s gift card, a t-shirt and your name with adorn on the Lucky's Top Dogs wall.

But you've got to eat it all and keep it down. If you hurl, you're disqualified. You may, however, give up in the middle of the challenge and take home the remains of your meal - and wounded pride.

For those who don't plan on stretching their stomachs to the limit, Lucky’s will be serving its regular menu, as well as $1 burgers, $1 brews, live music and a doggie wash. The event, which takes place from 5 p.m.-9 p.m., will benefit the Golden Retriever Rescue of Atlanta.

You can enter the eating contest online or in-person at Lucky’s restaurant, located at 1144 Alpharetta Street. The deadline to enter the first eating contest is Aug. 5. Grim Reaper contestants must be 18 to enter. Registration costs $20 during the celebration, but it will cost $40 regularly, with a 24-hour advance notice required. It is free for those who finish within one hour regularly.
