Kroger Recalls Some Mardi Gras King Cakes

Stores in Georgia are part of the recall.

The Kroger - Atlanta Division said today it is recalling some in-store baked Mardi Gras King Cake Cinnamon sold in four states, including Georgia, because it may contain pecans not listed on the label.

Customers who purchased the product between Dec. 30 and Feb. 4, should return the product to stores for a full refund or replacement.

People who are allergic to pecans could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume this product. For consumers who are not allergic to pecans, there is no safety issue with the product.

Kroger stores in three other states are included in this recall including: Alabama, South Carolina and eastern Tennessee.

In Roswell, Kroger stores can be found at 900 Marietta Highway, 570 East Crossville Road and 2300 Holcomb Bridge Road.

 Kroger is recalling the following:

  • Bakery Mardi Gras King Cake Cinnamon, in-store made, with “sell by” dates of February 7, 2013 and before, under the following UPC Code: 4157327767.

Reason:

This product may contain undeclared pecans and, if eaten, could result in severe allergic reactions in persons sensitive to pecans

Kroger has removed affected items from store shelves and initiated its customer recall notification system that alerts customers who may have purchased recalled Class 1 products through register receipt tape messages and phone calls.
