New Salon Fulfills Owners' Dream

The new salon offers hair, makeup and facial waxing services.

In nearly 11 years in the hair styling industry, Helen Loiacono has never had the dream to open her salon. That is, until she met her new partner, Carrie Bowdon. And now, 18 months later, that dream is a reality with the opening of Déa Salon and Boutique.

“Sometimes you just wake up and you don’t know what’s going to be in store for you,” Loiacono said. “You just follow the signs, and there you are. It’s great, though. It’s something that grew as the passion grew for the industry.”

There are many aspects of the job that Loiacono enjoys.

“I love being able to interact with different clients and establishing a relationship with them, seeing them and catching up with them on their lives,” Loiacono said. “And, whether I color their hair or cut their hair, making them feel good when they walk out the door.”

The salon on Mansell Road opened at the end of June with three stylists and Loiacono said business is going well, despite the fact that July is the slowest month in the industry. The salon offers hair styling services, facial waxing, eye brow tinting and makeup services, as well as a blow dry menu. Prescriptive Blow Dry service includes a L’oreal Professional Conditioning Treatment, extended scalp massage and hot towel wrap.

But, the salon isn’t adding a spa yet.

“We are focusing mainly on hair services,” Loiacono said. “It seems like when you divide your attention too much, people get lost in the mix. We want to start with what we’re good at. It would have been a divided attention.”

The salon also features a boutique with candles made from upcycled wine bottles; Fara Fara jewelry; and Miracle Bars, hand-made facial cleansing bars made with goat’s milk and oils. All are made either in Roswell or Buckhead.

“We’re trying to stay in the Roswell area,” Loiacono said.
