Novelis Global R&D VP Speaks at TAG North Metro Meeting

Stefan Erdmann leads the company's global R&D efforts for the can, automotive and specialties markets.

The vice president of Global R&D for Novelis will be the guest speaker at TAG North Metro's April luncheon on Thursday, April 18.

Stefan Erdmann will speak to the group at Pampas Steakhouse on State Bridge Road in Johns Creek. The meeting starts at 11:30 a.m. and ends at 1:15 p.m.

Erdmann is responsible for leading the company’s global R&D efforts for the can, automotive and specialties markets. He leads Novelis’ Global Research & Technology Center a full-service research and technology laboratory located in Kennesaw. He is also responsible for five Research & Technology Centers in Europe, Asia and North & South America.

Prior to accepting this position in 2011, Stefan was the General Manager, Can, for Novelis Europe, based in Zurich, Switzerland. In this role, he was overall responsible for the can market in Europe. In this function he led the manufacturing and sales activities for can products and was project leader of Global Can R&D projects.

Stefan began his career 20 years ago at Novelis’ rolling and finishing plant in Göttingen, Germany and has held a number of positions with increased responsibility including production, lean management & six sigma, quality improvement, sales and plant management.

He received an engineering degree from Hannover Polytechnical College and finished his education as certified tools mechanic as best of his state in lower saxony.

He and his wife live with their two children in Atlanta. Privately he is board member of the German Church in Atlanta and panel member of the Georgia Tech IMat External Advisory Panel.
