PURE taqueria Named a Top National Brand

Nation's Restaurant News called PURE one of 50 "concepts shaking up the restaurant marketplace."

Roswell restaurateurs, Chris Sedgwick and Michele Sedgwick, are once again earning accolades - this time for their Mexican concept PURE taqueria.

Nation’s Restaurant News recently named the brand one of 50 "concepts shaking up the restaurant marketplace."

"I feel really proud and happy to be honored by NRN," Chris told Patch. "Michele and I built PURE as the kind of place that we would want to go to ourselves and we have accomplished just that."

Over the past eight years, PURE taqueria has become an Atlanta favorite, consistently topping the city’s best lists for their strong margaritas and authentic Mexican food, according to information provided by the company.

"We are very happy people recognize that higher quality food, more attentive service and a lively ambiance can be a great part of what is a taqueria-cantina experience," Chris said. "Long gone are the days where we had to settle for typical watered down margaritas, "speedy Gonzalez" type combination plates, canned music and sombreros."

The small coastal Mexican-inspired restaurant started in Alpharetta at the site of an abandoned 1920’s era Pure Fuel Oil station during 2005. The small stone building on the corner, which is now used for storage, was part of the original gas station. But the Sedgwicks designed and built the main restaurant space themselves.

Since that first store opening, the local chain has turned into one of the most popular concepts in the metro area. They've franchised several more stores, including five locations in the Atlanta area, according to the company.

The thing that we're most happy about is the fact that we were able to keep PURE fun as our vision came to fruition, added both Michele and Director of Operations Joseph McFadden.

The Roswell location opened last year to great fanfare on Alpharetta Street. It is the only PURE taqueria location (other than the original store in Alpharetta) to be personally owned by the Sedgwicks, a couple who got their start in the local restaurant scene with bistro VG in Roswell over 20 years ago.
