Roswell Resident Wins Recipe Contest

Bennie Vann took home top prize for a Kentucky sausage stuffed pork chop with bourbon-mustard glaze.

Go ahead, call Roswell resident Bennie Vann the grill master - a popular local restaurant already is, dubbing him the grand prize winner of its "Get Up in Our Grill" recipe contest.

The contest was held by Marlow’s Tavern over the summer featured and gave local grill masters the opportunity to enter their favorite recipes for a chance to win an array of prizes.

The festivities included complimentary tastings of the six finalists’ recipes, drinks specials and an awards ceremony. Executive Chef John C. Metz, Jr. reviewed all recipes and determined the following winners:

  • Grand Prize: Bennie Vann of Roswell for Kentucky sausage stuffed pork chops with bourbon-mustard glaze
  • First Runner-Up: Eddie Sun of Norcross for Asian dragon wings
  • Second Runner-Up: Kim Youngblood of Lawrenceville for Asian shrimp sliders

The grand prize winner, Bennie Vann, received a Big Green Egg, and the runners up Eddie Sun and Kim Youngblood won $100 and $50 Marlow’s Tavern gift cards.

Marlow’s Tavern remains committed to the communities that the restaurants serve and truly values the input they receive from loyal patrons. Metz hosts menu previews and competitions such as the grilling recipe contest in order to give guests the opportunity to help with menu development and provide feedback on menu items. This is part of the restaurant company’s efforts to meet the need for a neighborhood tavern environment while still providing the high quality service of a fine dining restaurant. Marlow’s Tavern extends its community involvement through longtime partnerships with charitable organizations such as Special Olympics Georgia and Share Our Strength.
