Last November, her daughter brought home a school project and she needed to go to a supply store to get the necessary materials. Not wanting to go the distance to the teacher supply store, it got Abby thinking of opening up her own store. After talking with friends, she went for it and started to look for the perfect location. The Silos Shopping Center already is the home of , Atlanta Fitness, Alpine Bakery and . Since these businesses already attract families to the center, Rushdecided that this would be the perfect place to open up The School Place of Roswell.

"My vision was to bring our communities together, enrich our community, celebrate the teachers, and be a destination for different topics and concerns and events. I am blessed to have and if the community supports me I will continue to give back to it," she said.

She went on further to state "Dr Alderman at always tells us to go out into the world and extend a hand to one another (building bridges) so I would like to build bridges in this community with the schools and the older generations."

The School Place Of Roswell is a business partner with , , , and Fulton Sunshine Academy  Robotics Team Pandemonium. They also support Medlock Bridge Elementary Foundation. Abby Rush is on active boards working with PTA with a discount card, Elementary PTA fundraisers and has provided teacher breakfasts for , , SAE and CCE. They have been supporters of Fragile X and Dyslexia Awareness. They will also be doing a toy drive for ACT Ministries. The store is also in discussion with other local groups and agencies for additional projects.

Opening up The School Place Of Roswell fulfilled the American Dream for Abby Rush since she is now a small business owner.

"The American Dream is a very courageous idea and a topic filled with responsibility to ourselves and each other.  I am blessed to live in a community where friends and neighbors encourage one another," she said. "The teachers here are considered inspirational to other teachers in the state. Our students leave this community to go to Ivy League schools. We have to remember our children achieve success because of the education, the teachers, our neighbors, our friends, PTA's, churches, etc.  I am only here because of that support and fully intend to continue to help the community."

She said the store is not perfect, so she appreciates the community giving it the time to fine tune itself.
