Verizon Wireless is looking to expand its ranks in north Fulton County.

The company is planning to hire more than 430 new full-time employees in the state this year, according to a press release issued through the city of Alpharetta.

Most of the positions would be based in Alpharetta or Milton.

More than 200 of those employees would be for customer service related positions at call centers in the north Fulton. Other positions include retail, network and IT.

"Since Verizon Wireless opened its doors in Alpharetta over 14 years ago, the company has been an integral part of the area’s business and job growth," said Alpharetta Mayor David Belle Isle. "This announcement further solidifies Verizon’s position as a leader in our city."

Other cities where Verizon wants to hire new employees include Augusta, Savannah, Macon and Albany.

Interested candidates can apply online by visiting the company's careers website.

"Verizon Wireless is committed to bringing new jobs and continued growth to our state’s booming technology sector," said Gov. Nathan Deal. "With the leadership of companies such as Verizon, we’re expanding our workforce and creating new opportunities for Georgians, resulting in our state being recognized as the number one state in the country in which to do business."

The new positions offer competitive salaries and benefits, including health coverage that begins on the first day of employment, and participation in the company's 401 (k) program with a dollar-for-dollar match of up to 6 percent of an employee's salary contribution.

State Sen. Brandon Beach (R-Alpharetta), who also serves as the president and CEO of the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce, praised Verizon's plans to hire new faces in north Fulton and throughout the state.

"As we continue to grow Georgia’s economy, cutting edge technology companies like Verizon Wireless are critical to the production of innovative products and new jobs," he said. "Having lived in north Fulton for almost 20 years myself, I can attest to the area’s appeal to qualified workers."
