How Often Do You Think About Ghosts and the Paranormal?

How often do you think of ghosts and the paranormal? Some of us in Roswell have been researching and exploring its paranormal activity for well over a decade!

Here we are are just a few days away from Halloween! Our children, communities and neighborhoods have likely finalized their Halloween costumes and plans for the holiday, favored by many.

This time of year brings out more scary movies, tv shows and documentaries. It's this time of year that many people plan to take advantage of these opportunities in hopes of finding a good scare for themselves. Haunted houses and ghost tours are popping up in most cities, anticipating the thrill they will give to many patrons.

Do you think about ghosts at any other time of the year? Would it surprise you to know that many of us do?

Our business, theRoswell Ghost Tour runs year-round. Myself, Dianna Avena, and husband, Joe Avena, are paranormal investigators who have been researching the paranormal for nearly 12 years now. We have spoken at events around the U.S., while also staying plugged in to the latest on all aspects of paranormal research and investigations. We founded a paranormal investigative team, RGPI to help people in their homes or places of business all over the state of Georgia.

We represent TAPS (SyFy's 'Ghost Hunters' fans will know about that) for the state of Georgia. We often get called upon by people wanting to find out if we can document unexplainable activity in their homes or places of business.

We were fortunate enough to be on an episode of 'Ghost Hunters' after we helped to set our friends on the cast there up to investigate the Titanic Exhibit at the Georgia Aquarium a couple of years ago. We felt we documented enough evidence to show that that exhibit was indeed haunted, but would it also surprise you to know that we de-bunk paranormal claims most of the time? Some of our favorite investigation stories are those that we successfully de-bunked! We investigated a trailer home in Tucker a few years ago, where a woman claimed to hear "demon growls" while laying in bed at night. After a couple of hours of nothing at all, one of our investigators decided to lay on the bed where the woman claimed to hear the evil entities. Low and behold, he began to hear the growls! He thought to look below the bed and saw a vent there, followed the vent to the outside of the trailer home - only to find a den of a few large dogs who were wrestling with each other, growling. These stories are plentiful!

Of course, we love it when we can set people's mind at ease due to our investigations on their properties.

But there is that 15 percent or so, when we cannot explain away their activity that keeps us wanting to do more. Every so often, we can document paranormal activity with our various gadgets and equipment - and that's just plain cool. We focus on EVP work (electronic voice phenomena) and measuring temperatures and electro-magnetic activity. Even if we can document activity, we firmly believe that most hauntings are nothing to be feared.

Along the Roswell Ghost Tour's route, we visit Bulloch Hall and Barrington Hall, telling of its history, as well of the paranormal occurrances that have been repeatedly reported at each location. Tour-goers have their own unexplained experiences as well. We routinely receive photos from them that were taken along the tour route that we cannot explain away. We love introducing people to Roswell, its history and the side of it that we can't currently explain away.

We go through Founders Cemetery of course, showing tour attendees where Roswell King himself is buried. This is a site where tour-goers will oftentimes see their cell phones or cameras malfunctioning, only to return back to normal once we have left the location.

We speak of the Old Bricks and of the many stories related to us by residents there. We speak at various stops along the tour route in historic Roswell that many people don't even know about, ending at our most famous stop: the old Public House building, now housing the Our team has held many of its training investigations there, therefore, we've documented a lot of EVP evidence from this location.

In no way do we feel that Roswell is a scary place, full of evil ghosts and things unfriendly. On the contrary! We fully understand why residents wouldn't want to leave Roswell!

If you don't get the chance to experience Roswell Ghost Tour this October, do not fret, since we run tours year-round. Check out our schedule online to see our current schedule of tours. Roswell Ghost Tour is a great way to learn of Roswell's history and a unique way to entertain out-of-town guests for an evening. No need to believe in ghosts to enjoy our tour! In no way do we try to convince or convert anyone into any way of thinking. We just enjoy leading people through a very enlightening evening in historic Roswell - any time of the year!
