Is there an advantage to kids participating in the performing arts as a preschooler? Absolutely, I am often reminded of that each week as I teach a preschool class at my studio. I see their excitement and anticipation when they come in each week. They are so happy to be there. Just as in preschool, they are learning to take turns, share and to follow directions. Students are learning how to socialize with other students, which prepares them for school. Dance, Theatre and Music classes at a young age provide separation from mommy which will make the transition into kindergarten easier for most children.
Children will learn to be respectful of each other and how to compromise and negotiate. They will develop a sense of independence and self worth knowing they can go across the floor alone or demonstrate something for the rest of the class. It will develop their self confidence as they receive praise from the instructor in front of their peers.
