Baby Found in Roach, Feces Infested Home

- South Cobb Patch

Cobb Police arrested two Austell parents earlier this week after police found their Austell residence on the 3200 block of Westview Street, where their 4-month-old also lived, was infested with roaches and the floor was covered in dog feces.

According to an arrest warrant obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, molded food was left out in the kitchen and police said roaches were crawling on the infant seat, which was below exposed electrical cords.

- Canton-Sixes Patch

Suspected explosive devices have been found at 119 Woodbury Lane in Canton's River Green subdivision, authorities with the say.

Agents with the ATF and the GBI are assisting. The is in a staging area off Woodbury Road.

"We got here around 8:30, 9 o'clock," Canton Fire Chief Dean Floyd said.

Officials said, "The necessary safety precautions are being taken."

- Cumming Patch

A Sunday afternoon outing at an apartment pool complex in south Forsyth County turns tragic following the drowning of a 7-year-old boy.

The incident happened around 3:01 p.m. at a pool in the Centennial Apartments in the Windermere subdivision located at 3100 Preston Pointe Way off Highway 20, according to the .

Stephon Alston of Cumming had apparently been playing at the pool when his father left the area to go to the restroom to wipe off his face after he had been pushed into the pool. When he came back, he saw his son’s swimsuit at the bottom of the pool and realized that his son was not resurfacing.

- Acworth Patch

A 55-year-old man drowned Sunday afternoon while on a paddle board in Lake Acworth, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Acworth police arrived at South Shore Park on Ragsdale Road at around 1:40 p.m. after witnesses reported seeing a man on a paddle board going under the water.

Cobb authorities were able to locate and recover the body within about 30 minutes after the initial report, the AJC says.

Officials have not released the identity of the man, and are investigating the cause of death.
