Gov. Deal Suspends Six DeKalb School Board Members - Stone Mountain-Lithonia Patch

Gov. Nathan Deal announced Monday that he is signing an executive order that accepts the State Board of Education's recommendation that six DeKalb school board members be removed.

Deal made the announcement Monday afternoon during a press conference at the state capitol.

School board member Donna Edler, of District 7, which includes several Stone Mountain schools, said she was not surprised by the governor's decision. "I think minds were made up quite some time ago." Stone Mountain-Lithonia Patch has more on this story.

Brass Knuckles Trigger 'Soft Lockdown' at Intown Academy - East Atlanta Patch

Students and faculty of the Intown Academy were on lock-down Monday morning, following an incident in which a student brought in a weapon to class.

One Home Invasion Suspect Arrested, One Still at Large - Douglasville Patch

One man is in custody and one is still at large, after Friday morning's home invasion where two men, impersonating police officers, restrained and pistol whipped a man while stealing two guns and two laptop computers and leading police on a high-speed chase.

Lt. Bruce Ferguson of the Douglas County Sheriff's Major Case Unit said that two black males entered an apartment at Stewart Mill Landing, announcing they were police officers. They restrained and beat the husband, while not harming the wife. Douglasville Patch has more on this story.

Fatal Shooting Outside of a Moreland Avenue Club - East Atlanta Patch

Saturday evening gunshots inside the Nite Lite Phaze 2 Lounge on Moreland Avenue took the life 26 year-old Decatur man, Terry Blount.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that the victims mother, "said she was told by relatives who were with her son at the club that the suspect walked up to Blount and shot him in the chest." East Atlanta Patch has more on this story.
