East Cobb Woman Held on $1M Bond - East Cobb Patch

An East Cobb woman charged with taking nearly three quarters of a million dollars from her former employer remained in the Cobb County Adult Detention Facility this weekend on a $1 million bond.

The Marietta Daily Journal reported Saturday that Sharron Yvonne Rice is accused of embezzling a total of $737,414 from D.E.L. Development Co. and depositing it into a Regions bank account.

Rice was arrested on Wednesday on one count of felony theft by taking, according to Cobb Sheriff's Office records. See East Cobb Patch for more on this story.

Thieves Target Buckhead Homes for Silver... Again - Buckhead Patch

Buckhead residents have received warnings recently from the Atlanta Police Department about local thieves targeting their neighborhoods for valuable silver found in their homes.

According to a Fox 5 report, "thieves have been breaking doors of homes in a neighborhood located just three minutes from Phipps Plaza on the Peachtree Dunwoody corridor."

There seems to have been at least four silver burglaries during the month of January in Buckhead, and one of them even being just seconds from the Governor's Mansion. Buckhead Patch reported in December of 2012 that five homes were robbed of their silver at the time. President to Visit Decatur School - Decatur Patch

President Obama will visit the College Heights Early Childhood Learning Center in Decatur on Thursday during his visit to the Atlanta area.

The visit was announced Friday with few details, but College Heights Principal Suzanne Kennedy sent a note to parents about the President's plans to drop into the school at 917 S. McDonough St., according to Decatur Metro.
