'National Boss Day' is Oct. 16, Will You Celebrate?

Do you have a great boss? Thank them for all they do on National Boss Day, Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012.

Good bosses are worth their weight in gold; because liking your boss can make the job a whole lot more manageable. And that's why the U.S. recognizes and celebrates Boss Day on Oct. 16 every year.

National Boss Day began in 1958 when a State Farm Insurance Company employee, Patricia Bays Haroski, registered the holiday with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. She chose Oct. 16 as the date since it was her father's birthday, according to timeanddate.com.

Since then, employees have showered their exemplary bosses with cards, flowers, gifts and simple thank-yous on that date (or the date closest to it, if it fell on a weekend). This year, Punchbowl.com has free e-cards you can send.
