Roswell Celebrates 'National Bike to Work Day'

Staff and some council members rode their bikes to city hall, Friday, May 17.

Mayor Jere Wood, City Administrator Kay Love, Councilwoman Dr. Betty Price and several City of Roswell staff members started their morning off right this past Friday, May 17 when they pedaled their way into work for "National Bike to Work Day."

The event was part of the city’s celebration of National Bike Month. City employees also are using this healthy, sustainable, economic transportation option to ride to lunch together each Wednesday in May. And earlier this month, the city joined Bike Roswell in helping students from Hembree Springs Elementary School ride their bicycles to school on the new Hembree Road Multi-Use Trail.

In 2006, Roswell became the first city in Georgia to be awarded the designation of “Bicycle Friendly Community” from the League of American Bicyclists. A Bicycle Friendly Community welcomes cyclists by providing safe accommodation for cycling and encouraging people to bike for transportation and recreation.
