Roswell Resident to Create Landscape Plan for Historic Buckhead Home

The Cathedral of St. Philip's Lanier House grounds will be transformed once Roswell resident and Sanctum Design Group President Tom Flowers is done with it.

Tom Flowers, president of home design-build and landscape design firm Sanctum Design Group, will create an extensive landscape design plan for the historic Lanier House, the site of the 2013 Cathedral Antiques Show’s Inspiration House.

"I’m excited to be part of this year’s Inspiration House," said Tom Flowers, a Roswell resident. "When I saw the potential of the property, I immediately began to envision how to restore the landscape and make it appealing, while respecting its history and neighborhood significance."

The plan is set to be implemented by the Cathedral of St. Philip as part of its ongoing landscape renovation in time for Inspiration House Tour attendees to enjoy Jan.27 – Feb. 10, 2013. It will address such issues as integrating the Lanier House landscape into the Cathedral campus, creating a pleasing vista from the historic home to the street, and offering visitors an attractive entry path to the front door.

"The front yard of Lanier House, in particular, seems lost in time," said Cathedral Chapter member Buddy Weston. "When the Cathedral purchased the home, we focused on renovating the interior into meeting space and the Cathedral Counseling Center and simply kept the grass mowed out front. Now, it’s time to address the landscape. I am so pleased Tom Flowers of Sanctum Design Group has accepted the challenge to transform what is now overgrown and unattractive into a beautiful and functional landscape fit for one of Buckhead’s most historic homes.”

Lanier House is situated on the campus of the Cathedral of St. Philip, site of the annual Cathedral Antiques Show and Tour of Homes. It will serve as Inspiration House, an exciting component of the Show featuring some of Atlanta’s top interior designers.

"I hope those who attend the Cathedral Antiques Show and Inspiration House will enjoy the new landscape, and also hope it will be a significant permanent addition to the campus of the Cathedral of St. Philip,” said Flowers.
