UPDATE: Ga 400 Reopens After Suspicious Package Cleared

Police have cleared the package and have reopened the highway and MARTA lines.

Updated, Friday, April 19 at 12:27 p.m. - Authorities say the suspicious boxes were filled with brochures. Ga 400 has been reopened and MARTA is about to resume service, according to Chris Monroe (@Atlanta_Traffic) on Twitter. Expect delays.

After a suspicious package alert was cleared at Howell Mill earlier today, Ga. 400 is now shutdown due to another package reported, according to Twitter.

The Atlanta Journal reports:

Around 11:30 a.m. Friday, another suspicious package — the second of the morning — was reported at the Georgia 400 Toll Plaza. State Department of Transportation spokeswoman Chata Spikes said all southbound lanes of the tollway remained shut down at 11:45.

According to Chris Monroe (@Atlanta_Traffic) on Twitter, just the southbound side of Ga 400 is currently shut down, but all MARTA trains have stopped "between Medical Center and Buckhead."

Sandy Springs Police Department says that the incident is currently being handled by Atlanta Police near the toll plaza.
