Roswell Resident Seeks Fulton Commission Seat

Eric Broadwell will formally announce his bid Friday on the steps of Roswell City Hall.

Roswell resident Eric Broadwell will launch a bid for the Fulton County Board of Commissioners Friday in Roswell.

Broadwell has scheduled a 12:30 p.m. event on the steps of Roswell City Hall, 38 Hill Street. A member of the Cobb EMC board of directors and its finance chairman, he is calling his campaign "Mop Up Fulton County."

He is seeking the District 2 at-large seat held by Robb Pitts. (Broadwell's campaign website here.)

Broadwell has cited his efforts in helping reduce water rates for Cobb EMC customers and cutting expenses as examples of what he would do if elected.

According to a press release Broadwell issued late Wednesday, he "believes Fulton County takes in revenue from all districts and disproportionally delivers services.

“We need to align revenue with the services provided and bring the budget inline so we can evaluate how we can lower taxes for as many of our Fulton citizens as possible.”

Broadwell earned an aerospace engineering degree from Georgia Tech. He has worked at Lockheed and for IBM, EDS and was also a CIO at a national mortgage company.

Broadwell, who is married and the father of three children, also serves on the Roswell Ethics Committee. He and his family are members of St. Andrew's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Cumming.

Sandy Springs resident Bob Ellis announced his candidacy for the District 2 post last month, citing an under-representation of taxpayers in North Fulton.
