The community is invited to attend a Feb. 9 silent auction and carnival to benefit a popular mentoring program for at-risk youth.
The event, to raise money for the Roswell-based Project LIFT, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Centennial High School, 9310 Scott Road in Roswell. In addition to bidding for auction items, attendees can enjoy games and carnival foods. Raffle giveaways, a photo booth and balloon artists will add to the fun.
Previous auction items have included airline tickes, vacations, jewelry and autographed sports memorabilia.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students. Tickets are also being sold for $40 per couple with children 3 and under admitted free. Purchase tickets by going to www.mycommunityevents.com and putting Project Lift in the search box. Tickets are also available at the door.
Bidding for the silent auction ends at 7:30 p.m. Guests are asked to park across from the school stadium and enter next to the gym.
For more information on Project LIFT, go to www.projectlift.org. The program provides one-on-one mentors to help at-risk students improve their academic performance and learn effective tools for dealing with challenges. Students are referred to the program by school officials and others in the community. They meet with their mentors at least once a week.
