GA 400 Road Race

Race Down GA 400 to Celebrate the End of the Tolls and Benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

Atlanta – For only the second time in 20 years, Atlantans are invited to race down GA 400 Sunday, Nov. 17, in celebration of the upcoming toll closures. The four-mile GA 400 Road Race, stretching from Glenridge Drive to Phipps Plaza on Lenox Road, will allow participants to run through the toll plaza, honoring GA 400’s history and embracing its future. As runners go through the soon-to-end tolls, they can pay a “toll” that will be donated to Strong4Life, a wellness movement launched by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

“The GA 400 Road Race is an exciting event that will join Georgia Games with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Strong4Life program to continue to help keep kids in Georgia healthy and active,” said Eric Pfeifer, Georgia Games Executive Director. “GA 400 has helped shape North Atlanta into the thriving community it is today, and this is our chance to give back.”

Toll collection is set to cease the week before Thanksgiving, weather permitting. This celebratory race will commemorate 20 years of easy access to metro Atlanta for approximately 110,000 commuters every day and the end of 50 cent tolls in the same way the opening of the tollway was celebrated back in 1993.

“The Georgia 400 Extension has benefitted Georgians since its opening, both providing a reliable route to downtown Atlanta for commuters, and benefitting the economy of the areas it accesses,” said Christopher Tomlinson, State Road & Tollway Authority Executive Director. “We are excited to celebrate its history with the GA 400 Road Race as we prepare for toll collection to end.”
