Lupus Awareness Day at the Georgia State Capital

Lupus Foundation
of America, Georgia Chapter will lock arms with State Senator Renee
Unterman and House Representative Sharon Cooper on Tuesday, February 18th
to bring attention to lupus and the need for more awareness, future support
and funding. More than 100 lupus patients and their families will attend the
assembly and the Senate, House and Governor’s Resolutions. The goal of the day
is to encourage more Georgia
legislators to be aware of the incidence and effects of lupus and to advocate
for lupus.

Lupus
is very misunderstood and misdiagnosed in the medical and lay community.

One in three lupus patients are misdiagnosed. A
lack of education and understanding leads to more than half of the people with
lupus visiting three or more doctors and suffering four or more years before
diagnosis with lupus. The Georgia Chapter is committed to elevating
lupus awareness, broadening education and expanding patient programs.
