Roswell Historical Society to Dedicate Cherokee Memorial

The Roswell Historical Society will dedicate a Memorial to honor the Cherokee Nation and its years in Roswell on Saturday, July 19, at the Riverside Park stage area from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  There will be a formal opening of the Memorial, honored guests from the Cherokee Nation, exhibits and demonstrations.  Shown choosing the boulders that will be used in the Memorial are Roswell Historical Society President Johanna Harned, Project Manager Steve McNichen and Cherokee Committee Chair Cindi Crane.  The boulders will have 8 plaques telling the history of the Cherokee.  The plaques were written by Cindi Crane and vetted by the Cherokee Nation, the Trail of Tears Assoc. and the National Park Service.  For additional information visit www.roswellhistoricalsociety.org
