Shrek, The Musical... performed by Crabapple Middle School

Crabapple Middle School has hired professional puppeteer, Mr.
Avery Jones, to bring a 12 foot dragon to their upcoming production of Shrek, The Musical! On his way
to work with Sesame Street, he came to work with the four CMS students chosen
to manipulate the custom-made dragon on-stage.
Avery is currently the Puppet Master for the Springer Opera House in
Columbus, Georgia as well as co-creator for the CTN animated show:  Heath and the Checker Shoe Band.  Mariam Goguichvili (8th grader and
the voice of the Dragon) will steal the show with a voice mature beyond her
years.

The international award winning Drama Club from Crabapple
Middle School (Roswell, Georgia) is the first Middle School to ever perform the
full score of Shrek, The Musical.  It will be ready for you by mid-March.  Boasting a cast of over 90 students, this
production of Shrek will reacquaint you with Fiona, the GingerBread Man,
Donkey, Dragon, Lord Farquaad and, of course, the Ogre himself, Shrek.

Crabapple Middle School has already had a successful year being
one of the only middle schools in the country to receive a superior IE acting rating
at the International Thespian Festival in Lincolon, NE this summer.  They also won first place and superior rating
at both the Eastern and State One Act competitions. Miriam Goguichvili won best
actress in the One Act at State.  Sarah
Stoffle (director), Kristy Baker (assistant director), and Georgia Bickel
(choreographer) have created a strong reputation for the CMS Drama Department
and their sold out shows tell the story.
Her students are polished, professional and delighted to be on stage
whether in a musical, a one-act or as an improve troupe.

“Shrek has quickly become one of my favorite musicals. With a
beautiful script and score, the cast is having a blast telling their stories
and becoming their characters. This is such a talented group of performers;
probably one of the best I have had to date. They have made me laugh and cry in
rehearsal because of the emotion they are putting into making these
characters.  They make them come to life. This combined with professional choreography
(Nicole Ohr and Georgia Bickel), an amazing set (Kristy Baker), elaborate
costuming (Sandy Dawson and Jeff Kinkade),
and professional sound and lighting (Music Matters), the audience will
in no way feel like they are watching a middle school production. They will truly
be captivated and taken into the world of Duloc and the Swamp,” stated
Crabapple Drama Coach Sarah Stoffle.

Roswell resident, 8th grader Andrew Bourne, lead
actor in Shrek as Shrek, “I’m extremely thrilled to be performing as Shrek, and
it’ll be great to tell the universal (pun intended) story of the Scottish ogre
once more in a unique and fresh way.”
Bourne has an impressive resume building and looks forward to
manipulating his 150 pound costume around the stage while dancing, fighting
with Donkey, etc.  This production is
quite a physical, spiritual and mental process for everyone involved!
