Roswell’s Tellabration brings together celebrated
regional tellers to delight, captivate and mesmerize audiences.
This year’s event features Roswell residents Rosemary Glenn, Alice Henry, and
Ron Kemp along with a Roswell favorite, Martha Tate, sharing holiday
memories. You will have to decide if they’re real or imagined.
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good
story,” explains teller Ron Kemp, who has received awards and
recognitions for his down home telling style.
Martha Tate says she has two lives: storyteller
and story listener. She is a psychotherapist, and at work she listens to
people's stories and helps them make sense of them or change them. She has long
known the healing power of stories and continues to study why imagery is so
healing. But, her tales are not all serious as her wit and wisdom often
combine in hilarious accounts that we can only hope are at least part
fictional!
Rosemary Glenn charms audiences with her original
stories, folk and fairy tales, puppets, props and more. One never knows
what she will be doing but even if it is simply telling a story, it will be
fascinating.
Alice Henry’s background as an educator may be one
reason why she is such a captivating storyteller. Humor, wit or wisdom,
she can deliver it all.
The emcee for the night is Frank Causey, champion tall
tale teller from Roswell’s Magnolia Tellers.
Presented by the Roswell Ramblers, The Magnolia
Tellers and The Roswell Folk & Heritage Bureau. 770-640-3253 or
770-641-3950.
