Five Tips To Learning and Speaking Italian, or Other Foreign Language

Foreign language classes (Italian, Spanish or English as a second language). Please call to fill out an application form, find out prices and possible schedules. 678-274-9861 or 678-682-5284

1. Native Italian teacher and immersion in the language

Besides finding a good teacher to help you with the foundation of the language, by far the most important factor is how much time you are immersed in the language. The more time you spend with the language, the faster you will learn. This means studying, listening, reading, writing and speaking.

2. Listen and read in the target language

Listen to the language wherever you are. Read what you are listening to. Listen to and read things that you like, things that you can mostly understand. One hour of listening or reading is more effective than many hours of class time.

3. Use strategic listening and reading to build your target language vocabulary

Build up your vocabulary; you’ll need lots of it. Try to notice words and how they come together as phrases, especially at the beginning learn already made phrases and sentences.  Learn these words and phases through your listening and reading and in class. Read online, using online dictionaries, and make your own vocabulary lists for review. Do not worry about how accurately you speak until you have accumulated a plenty of words through listening and reading.

4.  Take responsibility and be committed to learn the target language

If you do not want to learn the language, you won’t. If you do want to learn the language, take control. Seek out the words and phrases that you need to understand your listening and reading. Discover the language by yourself, like a child growing up. A teacher cannot teach you to become fluent, but you can learn to become fluent if you want to.

5.  Be patient and do not worry about making mistakes

Do not worry about what you cannot remember, or cannot yet understand, or cannot yet say. It does not matter. You are learning and improving. The language will gradually become clearer in your brain, but this will happen on a schedule that you cannot control. So sit back and enjoy your trip. Just make sure you spend enough time with the language. That is the greatest guarantee of success.
