Is Georgia Overdue for a Monster Hurricane? Roswell Researcher Looks for Answers

Over the past century and a half, Georgia hasn’t seen many hurricanes. But Georgia State researcher Lawrence Kiage knows that isn’t the whole story.

Kiage, a Roswell resident, has found evidence that catastrophic hurricanes have hit our coastline in the distant past. Now, he’s trying to reveal the mysterious cycles behind hurricane seasons that could help emergency planners and others know when Georgia is likely to face a direct hit.

“Nature writes a book for you,” Kiage says. “We’re here to decode what’s written.”
