Miss Mary's Ice Cream Crankin' is Sunday

Sunday afternoon's homemade ice cream fundraiser will benefit projects of The Drake House.

With the Dog Days winding down -- we think, we hope -- one of downtown Roswell's biggest late summer events is slated for the Square this Sunday.

That will be the venue for the 9th annual Miss Mary's Ice Cream Crankin', a fundraiser for The Drake House, which lasts from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Guests can sample more than 100 varieties of homemade ice cream -- all created by local groups and organizations -- while helping The Drake House's efforts to assist homeless mothers and their children in north Metro Atlanta.

In an interview with the Neighbor newspaper, Kathy Swahn, executive director at The Drake House, said this year's fundraising goal is $50,000.

Individuals pay $6 or a family pays $6 to sample all the ice cream they like.

Music, other food samples, and children's activities are all part of the festivities.
