Roswell Ranks Nationally in Water Conservation Challenge

The city came in third in the nation for its size.

Roswell placed third nationally in the National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation among cities with a population of 30,00-99,999.

Roswell residents took Mayor Jere Wood’s challenge to take shorter showers, fix leaky water pipes and only run full loads of dishes and laundry as part of the National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation during April - the result was the highest ranking of all participating cities in Georgia.

"The city of Roswell has always been committed to conserving our natural resources and being a good steward of the environment," Wood said. "I am excited that so many residents accepted this challenge and hope it will help create additional momentum within our community to be aware of how our everyday actions impact our sustainability, both locally and nationally."

Residents signed an online pledge to conserve water and resources. Cities with the highest percentage of residents who took the commitment were then entered to win hundreds of environmentally friendly prizes.

Last year, residents who participated in the challenge pledged to reduce their water use by 4.7 billion gallons.
