Roswell Nonprofit Flips Home For Special Needs Children

Sunshine on a Ranney Day recently revealed the results of a two-week renovation project for the home of a family caring for two special needs children.

Roswell-based Sunshine on a Ranney Day recently held a ceremony for a home they renovated for a family caring for two special needs children.

The results were revealed on June 24 for the Johnson family, which is made up of
two caring parents who fostered and later adopted two special needs children, Tashawn and Alissa.

Both children are thriving in their environment, but Tashawn is growing too big to be carried upstairs and struggled to get around his home in his wheelchair, the nonprofit said.

Last month, Atlanta Swim Academy in East Cobb kids raised around $11,000 for this makeover.

The two-week renovation project included: removal of all carpet and replacing it with laminate flooring to make it easier for Ta’s wheelchair and walker; remodeled the bathroom to make it wheelchair accessible; constructing a ramp to assist with the split level on the main floor; installed a chairlift from the garage to first and second floors; and renovating the children's rooms to make Ta’s bedroom look like you are in a swimming pool and Alissa’s room to look like you're walking into a flower garden.

Sponsors for the project were Reliable Heating & Air, Interceramic Tile, Atlanta Kitchen’s, Crosby Design Group, Atlanta Swim Academy and Giovanni’s Tile.
