The event described as the largest Memorial Day celebration in the state of Georgia will return to Roswell on Monday.

Roswell Remembers will hold its 17th annual commemoration of the holiday, which attracts between 6,000 and 7,000 people from the southeast.

The event start at 11 a.m. at Roswell City Hall. However, event displays will officially open to the public at 10 a.m. on the City Hall grounds and the pre-ceremony music will start at 10:15 a.m.

This year's featured speaker will be Joanna Doolittle Hoppes, the founder and executive director of The Doolittle Foundation, an organization that strives to make U.S. military history available to children.

Once Hoppes wraps up her remarks, veterans will share their moments of reflections. The program is expected to wrap up by 12:30 p.m.

After the program, residents can enjoy a picnic on the lawn and music by Curtis Blackwell and Nation & Blackwell Bluegrass Band

Due to the large crowds and sudden noise from the 21-gun salute, residents are encouraged not to bring their pets to the festivities.
