July Puts Us in a Pickle - National Pickle Month, That Is

Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. How many pickles will you procure during July's National Pickle Month?

Yes, there's a "national month" for everything and as a friendly public service announcement, July is also National Ice Cream Month, National Hot Dog Month and National Picnic Month. Mark your calendars now for August, which brings us National Catfish Month and Peach Month. But, this post is primed for the pickle...

Pickle Packers International says that Americans eat more than 2.5 billion pounds of pickles each year. Andy Badgett, owner of Roswell's The Fickle Pickle Cafe says his customers contribute a good number to that total. The popular cafe serves up a homemade bread and butter pickle with every entree. They also fry Cajun pickle slices and pair them a racy remoulade sauce for dipping.

The Fickle Pickle is celebrating National Pickle Month - and their 8th birthday - with festivities throughout July. Every Tuesday in July, "Little Gherkins" (that's pickle talk for "kids") eat free all day at The Fickle Pickle. They'll also be throwing some kind of "pickle party" every Thursday:

Plus, if you like The Fickle Pickle on Facebook, you may win a signature t-shirt or a $200 gift card for use at the cafe; that's a lot of pickles!

So, if you've been slacking on your pickle consumption (Americans, on average, eat nine pounds of pickles per person annually), July is the time up your game and The Fickle Pickle is the place to do it. Happy National Pickle Month!
