Summer Learning Loss

When students are not engaged in educational activities during the summer, they lose academic skills.

It is our goal to help students prevent summer learning loss and to help them prepare for the upcoming school year.  Students who continue learning in the summer have an edge for the next school year. There have been countless studies on the impacts of summer learning loss:

  • When students are not engaged in educational activities during the summer, they lose academic skills.

  • Students who are on track can get behind if not engaged in educational activities in the summer.  Students who are already behind can fall further behind.

  • The average student loses over 2.5 months’ worth of mathematical skills during the summer.

  • Not keeping a child academically active in the summer is like throwing the last few months of the previous school year away and requiring your student to relearn that material.

  • Research proves that students who stay academically active and continue learning in the summer can get ahead and be better prepared for the next school year.
